good morning friends, it´s weekend and it feels like weekend for the first time since long. It makes a difference not to have the tools and fabrics around, but at another place, separated from home. We still need getting used to the new situation.
Some shots from this week.... before we´re wishing you a pleasant weekend!

[good friends don´t care about paper plates and tetrapack..... I hope :)]

the work space is almost done. Everything feels new and exciting. We had a first little come together with friends this afternoon in the studio.

we turned off the big light on the ceiling and enjoyed the dimmed light for a while before we left for today. We are conquering our new space bit by bit, but it feels like home already :)

to give you an idea what we did yesterday.... all day long. That stone floor was INCREDIBLE dirty. Luckily we had great help from Bogis mom, bringing some professional cleaning machines with her.

But now the studio is prepared .... will move our stuff tomorrow...

the last viking...

I´ve been tagged. 16 random facts about me

the last viking born in the "old" studio. "Knoerre Lambruscosson", Italy lover and unbeatable champion of the famous red-wine-slurping-contest.
He´s not too shy demonstrating his Italy fable even with his clothes (Knoerres shirt is made from a recycled tea towel, which was a gift from a Canadian friend)

Friederike! and me are packing for the move on Monday. Enjoy the weekend!

S like Softies and Studio

I´m still recieving kind emails from people asking about the 2 softies books, that were published by Penguin Australia in 2007 and 2008, entitled "softies" and "more softies", which also include 3 herzensart patterns. I thought it would be a good idea to make a post about it.

Unfortunately the books are only available in Australia. I have no clue why they can´t be ordered via Amazon, that would be a good thing, I think.
The publisher offered me to order books for resale at authors discount, but the shipping costs to Europe are so incredible high and besides the freight, customs have also to be paid. So the price I´d had to sell them for would be ridiculous high. That makes currently no sense to me.

But I found an online bookstore on the publishers website, which is also delivering worlwide. Both books are available there. I sent them an email and asked about shipping costs to Europe, will let you know about this...

Speaking about books: those of you who had also written because of the wonderful MAJA book: I wrote an email to Mari Savio, one of the authors and she answered:

"I asked from the publisher about this and we hope you´ll get the books soon !
The book will probably be translated and we are working now on the sample translation. Then we will try to find a foreign publisher who likes the book too...
We will tell you as soon as we know where and how to get them.

That sounds good to me. Will keep you posted...

news from the renovation front:

and this is dirt on my back....

I wonder where it still comes from???

this goat really cracks me up, it´s such a human expression, don´t you think?

studio renovation - day 1

yesterday Bogi and I began our 2009 collaboration project: the renovation of our new studio, that we will be sharing soon.

We have cleaned all the tiles from dust and dirt. The former artist who worked here was a wood carver, so everything was covered in grit wood powder. But with the help of a steam cleaner we managed the first step very well.
The next is to give the ceiling and tiles a fresh, white paint. Hopefully this brings more light into the room in the back and makes it look more like a studio than a slaughter house (thankgod it never has been one). Will share more pics with you soon

I made a new photo set on flickr, where you can find some more pics

viking no.92 (made on customer request)

after 2 weeks of sewing abstinence, we started with this little guy today. He´s the first of a new viking tribe. It was not that easy making this one, as he was required to be very similar to that viking, who was my second viking ever, which I had made about 2 years ago.

The light is kind of blue today, coming from all the snow that´s covering the garden. We woke up to a little winter wonderland.
