sea kings

"They had more beautiful voices than any human being could have; and before the approach of a storm, and when they expected a ship would be lost, they swam before the vessel, and sang sweetly of the delights to be found in the depths of the sea, and begging the sailors not to fear if they sank to the bottom. But the sailors could not understand the song, they took it for the howling of the storm. And these things were never to be beautiful for them; for if the ship sank, the men were drowned, and their dead bodies alone reached the palace of the Sea King."

Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid

Wishing you a magical weekend!

Hey, I've just started to check your blog, but once I saw this post, I can't helping this mythological character from Anatolia. Here are some links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahmaran and http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_TorNVlaUS8E/S3l8VDZqODI/AAAAAAAAAQI/gHwl73iTsKs/s400/Sahmeran2.jpg

@Cagdas Acer: thank you for the nice hint. What an interesting creature this Shahmaran is.

there is also a movie about it, actually just a turkish version of the legend, hope you can watch it if they have some subtitles: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0263962/ and http://www.sinematurk.com/film_genel/1118/Sahmaran

i hope i can come to Siegburg and visit your shop myself.

All the best!
