one morning you wake up and you are 40

paperdolls in Maastricht

Yesterday I entered into my 40iest year on this planet. My feelings about leaving the thirties behind are divided.
For those of you who haven´t "crossed the border" yet, you have to find out on your own how it feels for you :). Contemporaries probably know what I´m talking about. I spent a lovely and oh so hot day in Maastricht.

Thank you all for your prompt help with the sewing machine issue! It´s still not solved, but I can get a friend´s machine for substitute for the first.
Thanks also for the bleaching tipp! Is stamping bleach really possible? As far as I know it is very aquaeus... but will have to find out more about it.

-- Note for Magda (Poland): the messages I´m sending you to the email-adress you gave me, can´t be delivered to you, says the auto-response-email.... --

Happy belated birthday to you. You look really great for a 40 year old. At 80 you will still look fab :)
Your great looks go way beyond age.

If it wasn't so hot I would have gone to the market in Maastricht yesterday. I feel way better at home now.

Lots of love and happy times for you.

Happy Birthday!

Your stamp motif contains fine details, they won't come out when you use bleach on your stamp. I have tried both this and a bleaching pen with a fine tip (five years ago, when no one here in Germany had even dreamt about bleaching pens) on a detailed, small design I made, and it didn't turn out at all. Bleach spreads and doesn't allow for crisp lines at the width you probably want.

happy birthday and enjoy the fourties very very consciously! I entered into my fifties alsmost two weeks ago and it was really bitter. sounds like URRRRRalt but I still feel like in the thirties: crazy, full of ideas and creativity, curious and spontaneous. only my knees are hurting and my back (sometimes) and this and that... so you are a chick compared to me - could be the best years of your life: still very young but already quite mature!

happiest of happy birthdays!! (a few days late)

i have done bleach work before, and if you really want a nice clean line, try the 'freezer paper' stencil method...

freezer paper is also known as wax paper. and use the gel type bleach found in the pens if you can find it! i use it on jeans and it looks really very cool. good luck!

If things haven't changed, then waxed paper still is a rare commodity here in Germany, because we don't use it in the kitchen. There are some quilt supplies shops that sell small quantities imported wax paper in their online shops, though (you'd laugh at the prices...). :)

Happy 40th birthday to you! I'll be joining you 12 days. I'm counting! I've never really cared or worried much about age, but this b-day finds me feeling a bit introspective... you, too? Hope you bobbin issues work themselves out. I have a pfaff, too. Sometimes replacing the entire bobbin case does the trick. Once you move that screw, it's hard to get the tension back again. Good wishes.
