1. watch out for a dark corner in your room
2. choose a structured background (tiles are perfect)
3. bring your creation/product/object into the right position by using the furniture around you (variations in height you can best aquire by stacking: chairs etc.)
4. avoid using the white fader function of your camera
5. go for it and enjoy the result
